Thanksgiving is a uniquely American Holiday. First celebrated by the Pilgrims and Wampanoag Indians in 1621, Thanksgiving has been celebrated nationwide by all Americans annually since 1789.
In this 10-minute video, taken from our free online course “Colonial America: from Wilderness to Civilization,” you’ll hear the story of that first Thanksgiving; of the struggles of the pilgrims in the winter of 1620, and of the joy and brotherhood that united them in the autumn of 1621.
