Pursuing a Common Purpose

Hannah Niewoehner joined Steelcase Corporation, an office furniture and workspace solutions company, four years ago. In her current position, she is responsible for the company’s global environmental, social, and governance efforts. “We believe that business can be a force for good in the world,” she says, “and my job is to help us do just that.”

Hannah believes that her Hillsdale education not only instilled in her a strong work ethic and a thirst for lifelong learning, but also a desire to pursue “the good, the true, and the beautiful” along with coworkers who have a similar focus on purpose. “While the work I am doing at Steelcase has real and lasting impact on people’s lives, I’ve learned never to overlook the power of a smile to brighten someone’s day, the influence of a positive, can-do attitude to transform a group, and the blessing others find in being genuinely seen and heard,” she says. “I’m confident and grateful that God has used and is using this journey to bless others.”

“A Hillsdale education is about pursuing the true, the good, and the beautiful alongside others with the same purpose. My time at Hillsdale helped me recognize and embrace that pursuit in others.”
